Alaska Trophy Dall Sheep

We hunt trophy Dall sheep in the Alaska Range, 125 miles from Anchorage, Alaska, one of the premier trophy Dall Sheep areas. We have access to some great sheep country and trophy rams are often spotted right from base camp and many fine trophies have been harvested within one and a half miles from base camp. This is a fly-in base camp and backpack-style hunt. Hunters need to be “sheep shape” ready and to be able to carry your own personal gear, 25 - 30 pounds in your backpack, rifle, plus 30 pounds with trophy. Hunters should be prepared to hike 2,500 feet in vertical elevation a day, while covering three to six miles on foot to/from spike camps. You can expect to stalk rams that are between 35” to 40” plus. Sheep harvested have been averaging nearly 37”. Typically, hunters see over 10 rams on their hunt. In recent years, clients have been over 90% successful in harvesting trophy rams and providing hunters with the opportunities at trophy rams. By State regulation, you are required to harvest rams that have full-curl horns or larger, or ”broomed” on both sides, or at least eight years old. When hunting Dall sheep, the most important factor is your physical condition. It is safer if you are in good shape and it can mean the difference between taking an average ram or an exceptional ram; it makes the hunt more enjoyable and rewarding. We take a limited number of sheep hunters per season. Dall sheep tags can be purchased on-line with ADF&G or over-the-counter in Anchorage. You do NOT need to draw a Dall sheep tag in our areas. Come join us for the ultimate challenge in hunting the majestic Dall sheep!

Rates: $18,000 per person, 7-day hunt, fully guided (1X1). Packers are available: $250 per day.

Dates: August 10 - 16

Hunt Includes: Professional guide service (1X1), accommodations (base camp/spike camp), all meals, use of equipment, trophy field preparation, and transportation to taxidermist.

Travel: Arrival/departure point is Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, Anchorage, Alaska, where you will be met at the airport. Clients are responsible for commercial airline travel to/from Anchorage and air charter service to/from base camp. We suggest you arrive 1-2 days prior to your hunt commencing, to purchase Alaska hunting license, Dall Sheep tag, harvest ticket, any additional hunting gear or personal items you may need. We assist clients in coordinating air charter service to/from base camp. Air charter fees are determined by type of aircraft (Super Cub, Maule, Cessna 206 or DeHavilland Beaver) and length of flight. Air charter flights have passenger and weight restrictions. You may not hunt on the same-day-airborne. For departure schedule, recommend 1-2 days in Anchorage for taxidermy trophy care, processing/shipping trophy meat or expediting trophy from Alaska to taxidermist of your choice. We recommend purchasing airline tickets with flexible change policies in the event of inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances that may affect your airline travel.

License, Tags, and Harvest/Registration Permits: Purchase Alaska Big Game hunting license and Big Game locking tags online at the Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) website or purchase upon arrival in Anchorage.
